Ben is a senior project designer with ten years of professional experience in both project design and delivery. His experience across various project types gives him the experience to bring fresh insights to the range of projects he engages in. Ben’s careful, deliberate explorations of design options for both private and institutional clients - from the earliest concept stages through detailing and construction documents - have made him an invaluable team member and leader for houses and larger projects.
Ben enjoys working closely with clients to understand their goals and translate them into creative, functional solutions. His collaborative approach fosters strong relationships with clients, consultants, and internal teams throughout all phases of the design process. Ben oversees the production of design materials, ensuring high standards of quality, clarity, and technical accuracy. He actively coordinates with relevant trade partners and consultants to maintain project continuity from concept through construction.
While at Studio Rick Joy, GOA, and Wendell Burnette Architects, Ben worked with firm principals on the ground-up design of a summer house on Martha's Vineyard, a cabin in the Boundary Waters, and a competition for a destination resort and spa in Saudi Arabia. His project experience spans multiple jurisdictions, including New England, New York, and the Mountain West, giving him a strong understanding of diverse regulatory environments and regional design considerations.
Ben holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Architecture from the Yale School of Architecture, where he took advanced studios with Thomas Beeby, Lisa Gray, and Alan Organschi. In Ben’s final year, his work was nominated for the Feldman Prize, awarded to the designer who demonstrates the best solution to an architectural problem in an advanced studio.
